An inspired group of parents are seeking applications from accredited Kindergarten teachers for the new kindergarten being set up in Malta.
We will be calling it a playgroup until we have received the appropriate accreditation and are seeking an enthusiastic, positive kindergarten teacher preferably with previous experience of setting up kindergarten and native English speaking.
We would love to attract somebody who can create the sacred space for our children to thrive, teach about Waldorf Pedagogy (as this will be the first taste of Waldorf on this beautiful Mediterranean island) and help us in the relevant part of the accreditation process if necessary.

Guatemala (Escuela Caracol, Panajachel, Sololá, Guatemala)

Vacancy: Teacher

We're looking for a teacher to start the journey with our upcoming first graders at Escuela Caracol. We are a young Waldorf school on the shores of beautiful Lake Atitlan in the western highlands of Guatemala. We are the first and only Waldorf school in Guatemala, currently in our fourth year with around 50 children between kindergarten and the fourth grade.

Our small Mayan pueblo has one main road, and everyone gets around town on foot. San Marcos La Laguna is a poor village, so we look for sponsors for local Mayan children, who comprise the majority of our students. The other half come from all over the world. Some of our children speak four languages, while others are experts at starting a fire in the rain.

Our calendar is year-round, starting in January and ending in December, with one month breaks in July/August and December/January, and one week off every 6 weeks or so. This position would begin in January 2012.

Fluency in Spanish is required for this position, as Spanish is the main language of the school (English and Kaqchikel are also taught). This class will be the third of our grades classes in 2012, the other two being blended 2-3 and 4-5 classes. Eagerness to learn about indigenous culture, a spirit of service, and a sense of adventure are also required.
